Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
Super pleased to be a finalist in the HeadOn Photography Awards for Portraiture 2022. You will definitely recognise my subject but I can't reveal until the 5th Nov opening! Thanks again to the indefatigable Moshe Rosenzveig OAM, the incredible HeadOn team and congrats to the other finalists. Incidentally I'm also a semi-finalist in the HeadOn Landscape prize as well.
It’s increasingly difficult to be selected these days with literally thousands of entries so to be a finalist for the portraiture and a semi finalist fo the Landscape i’m more than pleased.

FINALIST MARTIN KANTOR PORTRAIT PRIZE 2021
The inimitable Kate Mulvany up close and personal will be hanging in the Martin Kantor Portrait Prize in August as part of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale 2021. It's on every two years and I would dearly love to make it down to the festival which looks like it will be huge. With all the Covid dramas that is looking a bit doubtful.... It’s funny how photography prizes work sometimes. I’m a double finalist which means I have not one but two portraits selected out of a total of twenty-eight all up. So fingers crossed!

Happy belated Easter!
Well a bit late I know but lots of people are still on hols so I thought I would post a street photograph of a rabbit which is my homage to Easter photographically that is! The shop which is sadly long gone was on Stanmore Road in Sydney’s inner west not far from where we live in Leichhardt. I love the old shops which are slowly disappearing….
Fave Portrait Blanch
I had the pleasure of photographing Blanche d'Alpuget a little while ago for the amazing Australian Story on the ABC. I have to say she was hilarious and sometimes better known as wife to the one and only Bob Hawke former Prime Minister of Australia. Well Bob is sadly gone but Blanche is still round flying the flag thankfully. A very rewarding photographic shoot with some lasting portraits for my portfolio.
PORTRAIT - ADAM CULLEN HeadOn Finalist 2020
Well I’m over the moon my collaboration with artist Adam Cullen taken a few years before his untimely death was a finalist in the HeadOn Portrait Awards 2020.
Titled "Portrait of a beautiful mind Adam Cullen - Blue Mountains" the time with the artist was very special now that he is no longer with us. Generous in so many ways he was a tortured soul who ultimately was set free way to early. His work controversial to some will stand the test of time.
The opening night via Zoom with so many international artists was very cool with big thanks to Moshe and Osher for hosting.
HeadOn is global monster of a competition and it really is a challenge to be selected asa finalist. It has come very long way from the early days.
HEADON PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT PRIZE FINALIST 2020!
Well it couldn’t have come at a better time with all the craziness going on right now. I can’t quite reveal the subject of my portrait yet however he is very well known! I’ve been entering the HeadOn Portrait Prize for many years now and it is increasingly more difficult to be selected, and so much more rewarding when you are! The virtual opening night is May 1 so finger crossed!

I photographed the CEO of the Thales Group Chris Jenkins for a features piece that was published in the Australian Newspaper. It was a commission by the company to provide images suitable for a magazine style spread of portraits. With so many years of press experience on the Sydney Morning Herald it was second nature and to me and we started on the top of the building out at Olympic Park. I just love the location shoots and producing great professional business portraits.
BEAUTIFUL NATURAL LIGHT PORTRAITS
One of my trademark natural light portraits converted to gorgeous black + white of Chelsea Andrejic former principal ballet dancer and now coach. I started out shooting natural light many years ago and have done a lot of photography in the studio with controlled lighting since , but you can’t beat the delicate diffuse glow of from the sky above.
