As an actor, surprisingly, it can be incredibly vulnerable stepping in front of the camera. It can feel like it’s just you, without a script, without a character, screaming “Hire me!” – luckily at Headshot Factory you never feel alone.From his first “Hello” my ridiculously talented photographer George Fetting had me at ease – greeting me with a relaxed but knowledgeable air that helped shed my first layer of self-consciousness.
The studio oozes style, flexibility and assurance. Heaping all my wardrobe choices on the clothes rack, George and his fashion buyer wife Rachel Fetting, perused and ooh-ed and ahh-ed over my selection, helping structure the order and style of the shoot. The divine Marnie Gerber was at hand with her incredible knowledge and deft hand to help shape the shoot through hair and makeup. We discussed how we’d change my look across the different outfits and set ups. Her input was invaluable in helping me inhabit these versions of ‘me’. Another layer shed.While in makeup, George expertly constructed the studio lighting, backgrounds and angles for the different looks we were trying to achieve. As I stepped in front of the camera, we developed a rapport and language that we needed to make the most of every frame.
Finally all the self-consciousness was gone. Actor’s headshot is a vital piece of their tool kit. You need the right people to see into your eyes and capture your best ‘you’ – that’s Headshot Factory.
